Across My Desk — July 26th

--

I consume a decent amount of content and media weekly. I also write a lot of content. Typically, I write about the content that I see that is the most interesting. However, there are things that I don’t get around to writing about. The Across My Desk series will serve as a weekly recap of the week and provide interesting, insightful, or useful content I came across this week.

What came across my desk this week –

The Three Rivers dam is moving? This seems like something we should be pretty concerned about. Also, why did the Chinese build it in the first place? It seems like it has always been controversial. And now it might break and put 400 million people in danger? Yikes…

The Seattle NHL team FINALLY picked a name. I like it. It’s unique and very Seattle. I think the logos and branding are on point with the themes and colors of Seattle as well. As a hockey fan, I finally have a team that I can get behind and root for as my own. It should be interesting to see how the expansion draft plays out. Vegas made it to the Stanley Cup in their first year in the league. The NHL has agreed to leave the expansion draft rules the same for Seattle as they were for Vegas. As long as we don’t screw this up, we have a good shot at having a decent to above-average team in 2021.

My Writing –

We pumped out quite a bit of content this week. Next week will be the first full week of the 30-day challenge. I underestimated how difficult this was going to be!

30 Posts in 30 Days — The intro into the 30 blog posts in 30 days challenge.

Why Do I Blog? — “For me, long-form writing is a way for me to connect with you.”

Our Story Podcast — Coming soon. Check out the announcement and intro into what will be the Our Story Podcast soon.

Virtual Event Review: Tomorrowland around the World Digital Event — An in-depth review of the virtual event.

Music –

I can’t stop listening to The World is Mine by Samm Henshaw and the new Quinn XCII album, A Letter to My Younger Self. The Quinn album sounds like quintessential Quinn (no pun intended). All of the songs are very melodic and catchy.

I haven’t gotten around to throwing on the new Taylor Swift album. I will hopefully get to that early this week. The reviews I have been hearing are great so far.

Tomorrowland was definitely worth it. Check out my review on it.

Haus Heater of the Week — Over & Out (Delamare Remix) by Sparrows

Thoughts –

“Everything happens for a reason” — This phrase keeps rattling around in my head this week. I can’t help but think that everything that is going on right now will serve a higher purpose. It’s been a tough couple of months, but I genuinely believe that we will be better because of it. Keep pushing! We will get through this soon enough.

Looking forward to another great week. We have a lot of content coming your way this week, including the start of the “How to be Human Series.” Let’s close out July strong!
